Join us for a Holiday Fun Run/Walk to support YLC and The Healthy Kids Network! Santa’s reindeer wandered away from the North Pole and we need to help catch him so he’s back in time for Christmas. If we all run/walk together, we can get him home!
Proceeds from the race will benefit the YLC and the YMCA Healthy Kids Network. This Healthy Kids Network distributes nearly 500 backpacks of food each week to Licking County children and their families to take home to eat on the weekends. This program is currently in place in nine Licking County elementary schools and they have additional schools wanting to come onboard with additional funding.
Race starts and ends at the Canal Market District Pavilion
All participants receive a Run Run Reindeer T-shirt, glow necklace and race bib!
More About The Charity
The YMCA Healthy Kids Network works with children in eight elementary schools in Licking County. The program distributes nearly 500 food bags each week to these children and their families to take home over the weekend. Kids return to class on Monday fed and ready to learn. Schools are also finding that families who receive this additional assistance become less transient. The kids are more likely to stay in one place and attend the same school which has an impact on their ability to learn. They have additional schools wanting to come onboard if funding can be obtained.
The Youth Leadership Council (YLC) of Licking County was established in 2011 as a way to address and encourage youth-led prevention and leadership development in Licking County.
The YLC is a youth-led prevention project of Pathways of Central Ohio with support from Our Futures in Licking County. Through prevention education, leadership development, civic engagement and community service; the YLC strives to educate and inform parents, professionals and their peers on the dangers of substance use, abuse and violence. YLC is made up of 44 High School Students from throughout Licking County.
